While the location was great for skiing, there's a lot of work needed on this place, especially for the price they are charging. If we were in our twenties and on a drinking weekend with friends, maybe this would have been fine but not for the family getaway we were on. The house is in serious need of attention and cleaning. The furniture is coming apart, many of the lights did not work. Closets are all locked so there is no where to hang our stuff, very tricky when you have all the ski gear for 5 people and only 4 hooks at the entry to hang everything.
Location! 7 min drive from the visitor centre to hike mount Washington.
We were up to hike Mt Washington so we didn't spend a lot of time there, but the house was as described and we had no complaints. The only difficulty was a that it was a bit hard to find.
The good: Excellent location, access to beatiful trails out back (but literally dangerous to access through the stairs; unshoveled with ice under the snow). There is plenty of room and great views. The bad: Front door lock did not function, whole place is musty (still), most of the kitchen cabinets are completely disorganized and filled with empty or expired condiments and the like so no room for guest food/supplies. The ugly: Entire decor is tired and dated, old paint, very old furniture. Nice woodburning stove, but make sure you bring your own firewood because there certainly is not any on the property.
This was our third stay here in two years. As always, the house was clean, comfortable, well equipped for all guests and so close to the mountains, a beautiful stream and the quaint down town of Jackson. This is our "go to" place for our family get aways in the White Mountains. The amenities here are top notch and accommodating for large groups, though we only had six guests. The house has spacious rooms, three large bathrooms, a beautiful fire place and is very warm even on very cold days. We were fortunate to get a available booking on this holiday booking and we plan to make our visits here a family tradition.
The house was spacious and well set up, with plenty of room for everyone. With the nice weather at the end of October, we were able to enjoy the deck and the trail behind the house which was a great bonus. However, the basement had a noticeable musty smell, which would be changeling for anyone with allergies or asthma.
