Overview
Slip into the heated 20×40 pool ringed by redwoods, then unwind in the private spa as Sebastopol stars come out — Marimar Estate sits 0.7 miles down the road and The Barlow's food scene is 2.3 miles out. This dog-friendly 3,500 sq ft home sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms (king, two queens, kids' bunk room with four twins) plus a sofa bed, with a full game room and fully fenced yard.
Spend mornings on the covered front porch with coffee and hummingbirds, afternoons tasting at Marimar Estate just down the road or browsing The Barlow's makers and restaurants, and evenings around the firepit with s'mores supplies and a bottle from the day's barrel visits. Step into a great room where tongue-and-groove ceilings soar above sofas grouped for conversation, a turntable and record collection waiting for whoever picks the soundtrack. Stream a movie, queue up a record, or settle in with puzzles, board games, and card decks stocked for all ages. Cook seriously or snack casually in the chef's kitchen, where cherry-tone cabinetry frames a center island and the pantry comes loaded — KitchenAid mixer, espresso machine, blenders, food processor, panini press, shaved ice maker, popcorn popper, electric fondue set, and a hand-turned pasta machine all stand ready. Gather everyone around the dining table with place settings for 12, plus serving platters and glassware for family feasts or poolside lunches. Claim a corner of the game room for foosball, ping-pong, basketball, cornhole, or giant Jenga, or pull up to the dedicated craft table when the mood strikes. OUTDOOR LIVING Dive into the 20×40-foot heated pool stocked with inflatables and pool toys, then drift to the spa as the redwoods catch the last light. Multiple terraces step through the property — outdoor sofas, a gas barbecue, several dining tables for long al fresco meals, hammocks strung between trees, and binoculars on the porch for spotting wildlife. Eight of us, 4 adult parents & grandparents, and 4 grandkids ( young adults & teens) spent two days (not nearly long enough) in this sunny, private, spacious property in the forest surrounded by lush trees and humming birds, and all the amenities of a resort. A swimming pool, hot tub, fun games to play inside and outside with a house that had every amenity to entertain and to enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings. Highly recommend to families and to retreat planners. 👏🙌
Fully stocked kitchen with seasonings, condiments, baking supplies, and appliances. We could easily had a few more days to enjoy it. Pool and hot-tub were great. Plenty of things to do for the kids.
This property provided the loveliest getaway and we spent such a nice weekend here with family. The house is incredibly spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated and the outdoor area is beautiful and serene. It was a wonderful little sanctuary that felt like the perfect retreat from city life and the fact that it is dog friendly makes it even better! The kitchen and dining area were perfect for family meals and it was definitely the best stocked kitchen in a rental home I have ever been to. The outdoor space with the grill, hot tub and pool in such close proximity to the house is perfect for a very relaxing weekend spent with good company. Being able to look up and see the stars while soaking in a rather luxurious hot tub was such a highlight. We will definitely come back this summer for a warmer weekend getaway!
We loved staying at this beautiful home! It was my Birthday and we wanted to get away for a few days to an area we know and love. I found this listing and even though I could see it was a much bigger house than we needed, we booked it, and I'm so glad we did! It was just myself, my husband and our 4 dogs. This is a very large home and we only used the ground floor! The main bedroom is there and it worked out perfectly for our needs since one of our dogs is older and struggles with lots of stairs. The interior of this home is incredibly spacious and extremely comfortable. Everything has been thought of (and even some things you never knew you needed!). The kitchen is beautiful and very well stocked. There are lots of windows which allow you to enjoy views of the gorgeous outdoor space. For us the absolute highlight of this property is the outdoors. It sits on 5 fully fenced acres and that was a dream come true for our dogs, and for us! If you have dogs, they will absolutely love, love, love this home! And if you don't have dogs, you will love this home! There are so many birds that come to the feeders in the garden and make their home in the tall trees there. It was wonderful to sit and watch them. We did not use the pool because heating it would have cost an additional $150 per day and we chose not to do that. But we certainly used the spa, which was great. I really can't say enough good things about this home. It looked good in the pictures but it is way better in person. It's incredibly private and quiet and it's in a beautiful area with so many wonderful hiking and other recreational opportunities. You have the Coast close by and the Redwoods, and so much more. If I could give this home more than 5 stars I would. We would love to rent it again. Thank you for hosting us!
Spacious home with a layout that allows for group gathering in a great kitchen/dining area and privacy in the different bedrooms. We had 2 families with both young and older children and it worked out great. Kids enjoyed play area. The pool is large with chairs and layout area that would be ideal for summer lounging. Great experience. Hope to stay again.
An absolutely wonderful stay! The house is well-maintained and thoughtfully stocked with everything you we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked with high-end appliances, cooking essentials (oils, spices, etc), and even a shaved ice machine (too cold for us to try - next time!). It was incredibly cozy - we loved curling up in front of the fire. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The surrounding property is beautiful, with a spacious, fully enclosed yard—perfect for our dogs to run freely and safely. Beyond that, a gorgeous forest creates a peaceful, secluded atmosphere, making it an ideal retreat. The setting is tranquil, yet conveniently located. It’s just a short drive to town, close to Occidental’s charming shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a delicious brunch in town before heading to LandPaths’ Grove of Old Trees for a dog walk among the stunning redwoods. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. We would definitely stay again!
