Overview
Anchors Away
You couldn’t ask for a sweeter spot for your southwest Michigan getaway than this cozy two-bedroom cottage in New Buffalo. This 1200-square-foot home lives large, with an airy main floor, a huge enclosed sunroom, deck, and extra sleeping space upstairs in the loft. In the warmer months, grab a book and spend the morning in the sunroom. That hammock strung between two trees, just past the above-ground pool, is another likely candidate for whiling the morning away. When you get hungry, make breakfast in the well-equipped, full kitchen, and then grab one of the benches at the kitchen table to dine together. When you decide to venture out, you’re about two miles to the New Buffalo Public Beach and only about a mile and a half to downtown New Buffalo, with its many unique shops, bars, and restaurants. Hiking and cross country ski trails are right across the street, with more only a block or so north. In the evening, screaming-fast internet will help you stream your favorite shows on the wall-mounted smart TV in the living room. Or, head out and visit one of the breweries Michigan is so well-known for, with several within 10 miles. Even better, grab your beverage of choice and head back outside to one of the two firepits to watch as the night stars fill the sky. Generally an overall positive experience. The wooded, secluded area is delightful. The pool and outdoor three season room is a definite plus room for a comfortable fire pit is wonderful. Nice and close to the amenities of downtown new Buffalo. And for those who are interested in participating in other things, you can throw a rock in this town without hitting a dispensary. Be sure to look up all of the fun local spots to eat, dine, drink, and entertain.
Great location for exploring, pool looked very nice even though the week was to cold to enjoy it! We would go back!
The back screened in porch, kitchen and pool were the best
This was the perfect place to take a girls weekend to New Buffalo! The house was perfect, clean & the amenities were great! Close to town with lots of food & shopping options. We loved our stay!!!!
We had a great girls weekend at Anchors Away! When we weren't by the pool, we were enjoying the gorgeous sunroom. Plenty of space to gather and play games, do crafts, and enjoy each other's company.
I want to preface this review with - we are already planning to come back next year. The amenities are great and although not a CLOSE walk to anything - you could if you really wanted to. There were just a few odd things - the grill does not come equipped with a propane tank, so be prepared to buy one. They have pods for the dishwasher and for the laundry, but come with your own all purpose spray for day to day cleaning. If you're planning on using the two twin beds upstairs, they are mattresses on the ground - so if you're over 30, beware. Those with small children - they have hooks on the doors to lock from the inside on the screened in porch. Unfortunately, the hooks are low, so the kids can get to the pool on their own. The security for the pool is low, so be ready to run interference with your toddler a lot. We ended up clipping a life jacket around the hook so he couldn't unhook on his own. we'll plan better next time. Great house, so much fun. The pool was easy to take care of, just had to take a few things out from floating on top. good kitchen, great big fridge and the screened in porch is truly a treat. the furniture is really worn so if you're a germaphobe, be ready to cover some of it so you can enjoy it.
