The house was in a quiet neighborhood, close to restaurants and shops.

Moana Makani is a quaint beach home. Well appointed, all through-out! The kitchen was super well stocked with anything you might need. The outdoor shower was one of the best we’ve experienced in OBX, making a 1 1/2 bath home plenty big for a 3 girl week! The neighborhood was quiet yet so close to the beach! The new deck and seating area made outside time enjoyable……especially the cozy solar lights. The only area of improvement would be eliminating the slight mothball-like indoor scent. It was easily addressed with a Meyer’s room deodorizing spray, which we left for the next renters. It helped “quiet” the scent, almost immediately. If you’re looking for a luxury SOBX get-away, this ain’t the one. But… if you’re looking a quaint, well-appointed beachy stay w tropical Hawaiian flare, this rental is on point. Quaint in size but enough sleeping for 7. Bath and a half wld accommodate full capacity w sharing. Kitchen was very thoughtful in basic amenities down to containers for saving leftovers while there. Housekeeping left starter pkts for dishwashing and washer/dryer as well as travel size soap/shampoo, toilet tissue and paper towels. The new deck was amazing and the two benches that make a picnic table were adorable and thoughtful use of space. While not accommodating to elder or disabled, we found it easy to traverse the thoughtfully lighted stairs. (Just keep that in mind if you’re booking for family stay) The antique furniture inside was super cute and the live plants were added bonus. We found the downstairs outside space usable for hanging out, including the outdoor shower and place to wash feet. Great way to expand usable space w larger groups or if you needed the kids to get outside or just enjoy the outdoor grill and chill vibe. There is not a covered area for parking so keep that in mind for hot southern summer days and loading/unloading in the rain as we had to do. Our trip was amazing and we had a wonderful time. The price of this rental fit exactly what we got and what we were looking for which was a long Wkend get-away w only needing accommodations for sleeping/bathing/eating as the rest of our time was spent exploring the beautiful Hatteras Island and surrounding beaches. Don’t miss Kite Point at sunset! Take the quick drive and spend time watching the athletes. The ferry is not too far for a day trip and the other islands await exploring as well. Passes required for 4wd beach and airing down is a must! Explore the windy area and all it has to offer! Moana Makani is perfectly named! It was a wonderful Wkend and we were appreciative of the home we stayed in. ❤️🙏🏼
