About

You never know how a vacation will shape your life. In the case of Lee Kresy, it became the cornerstone of his career.

Lee is from the Bay Area, and his family vacationed frequently in the Tahoe area to ski. From that moment on, Lee knew that one day, he'd call the North Lake Tahoe area home. Little did he know he'd eventually open The Burrito Window, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Lee made his dream a reality after studying at The Culinary Institute Of America and moved in 1982.

He worked as a chef at area restaurants while planning his next career. Deep in his heart, he'd always wanted to operate a catering company. When D'lish Catering became available, he purchased the already successful company.

Lee and his family logged serious sweat-equity hours, and the business has become a regional staple. From there, he set his sights on opening a Mexican restaurant, and The Burrito Window was born.

Like all things Lee sets his mind to, his new venture would be creative and unique.

While The Burrito Window serves traditional Mexican fare, the quaint location lacks vibrant colors and Mariachi Music. The focus is on fresh ingredients and made-to-order meals that are tasty.

The Burrito Window has become integral to the North Lake Tahoe community. Folks know they can grab a fast, healthy bite on their way to an adventure or chill under an outdoor umbrella and savor tasty Mexican cuisine.

Vibe

The Burrito Window presents a remarkable blend of vibrant street food culture with a touch of sophistication. The restaurant's exterior looks more like a quaint North Lake Tahoe coffee shop than a Mexican eatery.

Inside, the regional design scheme continues. Gone are the loud colors and faux distressed walls typically found in cantinas. In their place is a refurbished barn wood wall, with off-white colors throughout that give the restaurant a clean look.

The open kitchen adds a dynamic with chefs preparing dishes in full view of the patrons. A few wooden tables and counter stools are available for indoor eating, but most diners grab-and-go.

The Burrito Window's ambiance is chic-Tahoe with the warmth and familiarity one expects in a family-owned business.

The Burrito Window: Menu & Drinks

The menu at The Burrito Window offers tantalizing Mexican street food delights. The "Carnitas Burrito" is a mouthwatering concoction of tender, slow-cooked pork, and all burritos come with beans, rice, salsa, jack cheese, and chipotle sour cream. And you can always bypass the tortilla and make it a bowl.

The "Chicken Tacos" is stuffed with succulent chicken pieces and comes with salsa, cabbage, chipotle sour cream, and cilantro.

The Burrito Window offers canned drinks and beer. Again, think of "food truck" options, not Mexican cantina cocktails.

The Burrito Window is consistent in both the food quality and service. A menu of vibrant flavors and a comfortable environment make it an excellent choice for healthy "fast food" in the Tahoe region.
